Home Run Derby question....?

Hi. Me and my buddies have had a Home Run Derby every year since 2000. Back then we were about 9 and the tradition lives on. Problem is, is that in 2006, when we used to pitch to each other, I hit the ball straight towards my friend and broke his eye socket. After that he became blind in his left eye. After that we pitch to ourselves. Question is... should we go back to pitching to each other or just play it safe?
