Can a professor fail you becasue they don't like you?

My midterm was on "A Midsummer Night's Dream", it asked explain how the woods is a character in itself in the play. I disagreed completely and stated how I didn't think it was a real character, and she gave me a zero. I can tell she is very fond of me.
